The best time to visit Sri Lanka

1. West & South Coasts + Central Highlands (including Colombo, Galle, Bentota, and Kandy):

   • Best Time: December to March
     This period is ideal for enjoying the beaches and historical sites on the west and south coasts, as well as the hill country. The weather is sunny, warm, and largely free from rain.

2. East Coast (including Trincomalee, Arugam Bay, and Batticaloa):

   • Best Time: April to September
     If you're heading to the east coast for its quieter beaches and surf spots, the dry season here is from April to September, offering sunny skies and calm seas.

3. Cultural Triangle (including Sigiriya, Dambulla, and Anuradhapura):

   • Best Time: May to September
     Although the Cultural Triangle can be visited year-round, the weather is most pleasant from May to September, when there's less rainfall.

Off-Peak Season:

• May to August
  During this period, the southwest coast experiences the Yala monsoon, but the east coast remains dry, offering good conditions for surfing and beach holidays at lower prices.

To sum up:

• December to March is the best time for the west and south coasts.
• April to September is ideal for the east coast.
